To many of us, the idea of exercise is more unfavourable than the notion of a Monday morning on a Friday night. But we cannot deny it any longer! The facts are just too clear! If we want to live long and healthy lives, EXERCISE, will have to be done!
This does not however mean that we all have to strap on a pair of running trainers, bumble around our local streets red faced, and pray that no one we know looks out of there window. No. Exercise can actually be fun! Finding something you enjoy may take a little trial and error, but it is worth it in the end. 30 minutes a day is all it takes to see improvements in your general health and reduce your risk of major diseases. So, put yourself out there. Try cycling, dancing, water aerobics, tennis, hockey, or even rollerblading. If you think you’ll hate it try it! If you’ve always fancied it, give it a go!
You don’t have to do it all at once! If you don’t have time to dedicate to a new hobby right now don’t worry! Taking the stairs not the lift, parking your car at the opposite end of the car park, doing some housework, and many other small changes can all add up to 30 minutes’ worth of work.
You don’t have to do it alone! Get your kids, friends, partners, pets anyone involved. The more people you bring along the more people there will be to motivate you further down the line.
You don’t have to do it ALL the time! If it has been a long stressful day the last thing you want is the pressure of spoiling what you have achieved and feeling guilty about it. Studies have shown that people who exercised for 30 minutes a day 5 times a week still experienced the full benefits.
